Most people on the East Coast associate whitewater rafting with the summer months, particularly July and August. While those months undoubtedly represent Whitewater Challengers’ busiest time of year, it’s a little-known secret that spring whitewater is actually one of the most beautiful rafting trips along the river.
Is the weather a bit cooler? Sure. But nonetheless, Whitewater Challengers has got you covered. At our rafting center, we offer wet suits for rental in a variety of sizes. And that’s not all. Anyone who books a rafting trip with Whitewater Challengers during the spring can also take advantage of:
Lighter Crowds:
The closer you get to summer, the more people there are on the river, especially during the weekends. By scheduling your trip for April, May, or June, you’ll enjoy more open space along the water, and you’ll also benefit from a quicker transition between when you arrive at Whitewater Challengers, and when you launch from the foot of the river. On top of this, you can expect shorter lines at the rafting center’s concessions, including the snack bar and the gift store.
More Time for Q&A with Our Guides:
The river valley offers a lot of history, and if you’re interested, our guides are a tremendous resource. During the summer, most of our guides are coordinating various groups. During the preseason, however, certain guides – and other Whitewater Challengers team members – may have more time to engage in one-on-one conversations about the area, or the river itself.
More Action:
You see us mention “dam release” many times on our website…but spring run off from winter snows can make spring whitewater just as exhilarating, if not more, then summer dam release trips!
Some of Whitewater Challengers’ Other Activities:
In addition to rafting, Whitewater Challengers also offers trail bike rides, onsite camping, inflatable kayaking and more. Booking your visit during the spring means you won’t have to worry about any of these activities being sold out. And if you stay at our campground at our Lehigh River location, you can spread out your schedule, so you’ll never have to feel like you’re in a rush. Activities vary at each location.
Whitewater Challengers offers three premier locations for your spring whitewater adventure. The Lehigh River in the Pocono Mountains Region of PA, Black River in the Thousand Islands Region of NY and Hudson River in the Adirondack Mountain Region of NY. You can learn more about rafting at each location online or go ahead and book your trip today!
