It seems like we might have an average winter in the Pocono Mountains this year. While La Nina is wreaking havoc on the Northern and the Southern States, Pennsylvania may remain unaffected. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) the 2016-2017 winter forecast for the Poconos has an equal chance of having above-, near- or below-normal temperatures and/or precipitation. What does that mean? Typical weather forecast – when it snows, we’ll know it’s going to snow.

La Nina is causing warmer and drier weather in the Southern US and cooler and wetter conditions in the Northern US. Pennsylvania is in the band of the great unknown.

Do the “Snow” Dance

We are looking for a few good snow days! Book, blanket and hot chocolate are ready to go. Plus, as we sit there watching the snow flakes fall from the sky we think about the pool of water building at the Francis Walter Dam just down the road from our office in PA. All that water just waiting to be released for some awesome whitewater rafting this Spring!
