Whitewater Challengers Trail Ride on Rail to Trails Conservancy Opening Day

Whitewater Challengers Trail Ride on Rail to Trails Conservancy Opening Day

Pledge to get outdoors this spring! A trail ride on the Lehigh Gorge Trail with Whitewater Challengers is the perfect spring time activity. The Rails to Trails Conservancy has announced that April 16th, 2016 will be the official Opening Day as a kick-off to the trail season!

Access Points for the Lehigh Gorge Trail

The Lehigh Gorge Trail features almost 25 miles of scenic views and historic sites. Access points include (from North to South) White Haven, Rockport and Glen Onoko. You can start your day with White Haven and enjoy a leisurely downhill ride with the family. Biking the complete trail one way will take approximately 4-5 hours. Whitewater Challengers offers a bike rental and shuttle service that will take you to and from the trail so you don’t have to worry about biking uphill at the end of the day.

Rail Trail Etiquette

When you are out on the trail, whether you are walking, running or biking, be sure to follow trail etiquette. The following a few pointers:

  • Use safe speeds
  • Keep right, pass left
  • Stand aside if you stop
  • Mind your pets
  • Be alert
  • Know and follow the rules

It’s important to respect the environment and keep the trails clean. If you take it in, take it out. Leave no trace. However you want to say it…pick up your trash, clean up after your animals and do not vandalize the trail.
